Aerial close-up image from 2006, courtesy of Google Earth. Grand opening ad from The Saratogian on August 7, 1953. The drive-in opened as the "Spa" Drive-in, but would change it's name to "Spar" Drive-in less than one week after opening. Ad from The Saratogian for the Spa Summer Theatre, an outdoor ampitheatre located in Saratoga Springs Park. This caused a great amount of confustion amongst the locals, with the new drive-in and the outdoor performing arts theatre only a few miles apart, but using almost the same name! Ad from The Saratogian for the Spa...excuse me, the SPAR Drive-in, on August 14, 1953. It would be known as the Spar Drive-in until 1956, when its name changed to the Greenfield Drive-in. I'm sure the confusion over the Spa Summer Theatre had something to do with it!

I lived in Greenfield from 1963-1969 (on Hyspot rd 62-64 and S Greenfield Rd. 64-69)
And as my Grandfather would take me to Saratoga, We would pass the drive-in. It was already closed down but the screen, snack bar and some speaker poles still remained even as it was becoming a mobile home park. In fact, my grandfather was a friend of the occupants of the very firs trailer that was in the park. It was neat visiting Leon & Liz (the occupants) and playing in the yard with a huge drive-in screen there. My grandfather raised Basenjis (a dog) in the early 60's while at Hyspot rd. I have very fond memories of Greenfield & Saratoga in the 60's
